Attendance Policy and Online Options

The University Faculty places the highest priority on the health and safety of students, faculty, and staff. At this time, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, we wish to communicate the following.

  • Faculty and students who feel sick should be encouraged to stay home, and to seek medical attention as appropriate.

  • All class attendance policies should be suspended until further notice.

  • All faculty should begin identifying which parts of their courses can easily be moved online, and be prepared for at least two weeks of online teaching.

  • Gallaudet Technology Services has prepared a guide for online teaching and learning during school disruptions for both faculty and students.

  • GTS will provide training for online teaching and learning on the following schedule:

    • March 9-13, 1-6 p.m., Merrill Learning Center, Room B220

    • March 16-20, 1-6 p.m., Merrill Learning Center, Room B205

    • March 23-27,  1- 6 p.m., Merrill Learning Center, Room B220

  • If you have Deaf or hearing interpreters working in your classroom, notify Gallaudet Interpreting Service at immediately so they can make appropriate changes.

  • Faculty who use interpreters will be supported with interpreting and/or faculty mentors to provide content for their online classes.

We wish everyone good health and a safe, enjoyable spring break.
