A statement from Board of Trustees

Gallaudet University, like every other college and university in the country, is facing unprecedented challenges because of the COVID-19 outbreak. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to thank our students, faculty, staff, and administrators for their hard work and extraordinary resilience during the past few weeks.

Your decisions and actions to ensure the safety of our community, our transition to virtual teaching and learning, and your commitment to maintaining operational and business continuity have been inspiring. It is wonderful to see how Gallaudet is finding new ways to maintain our sense of community and connection.

We also want to recognize President Cordano and her leadership team for responding to this global crisis and ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and our community. We also want to express our gratitude to the many alumni and friends of Gallaudet who have supported our students during this challenging time, including the Gallaudet University Alumni Association Board of Directors for their generous lead gift to the COVID-19 Bison Aid Fund.

We would like to take this opportunity to inform you that the May meeting of the Board of Trustees will be virtual, with additional details to come. Please continue to take care of yourselves and protect your own health and safety, and that of your loved ones and friends. We will get through this together.

With all my thanks for everyone’s support on this,

Seth Bravin, ’95
Chair, Board of Trustees
